Spent many a long day and lat enight lately building a complete, new wiring harness for the bike. It has been a lesson in patience, humility and facing the possibility of failure.
I spent a cold weekend drawing a schematic and parsing over it time after time before starting to wire. The unique-to-me partial ground circuits needed differ from the relative ease of a car's chassis ground or a boat's total ground systems. Having a headlight and taillight that stays on was interesting to consume, too.
Yesterday, I was able to finish all the connections and install the battery. I held my breath and turned on the system only to find everything worked except teh horn. After trouble-shooting the system I found the new horn I bought was bad. (New part on order)
So, all in all, a success. Now, to get the tank back from paint, install the petcock and see if it will run on the new carbs.
Progress toward Bonneville Speed Weeks 2012.
